Not only do I advise having one I recommend insuring that it fits and 'try it out' before you need it. I needed mine when one of the take-up eyes broke in 15 mph wind! I also have the wheel option (obviously) and found that the installed emergency tiller JUST clears the wheel so you can use it without removing the wheel. (I did try mine before the issue!)
Ditto...I had a take up eye fail and had to use the emergency tiller to get back to the marina...one good thing to practice...and make sure you don't drop the wing nut...I didn't but I do carry a spare...Dan #727
