I got inspired by all the other table mods on this site, so I did one for my boat. I just went with a basic pre-made table top from Lowes, some trim pieces from Lowes, and some hardware from Rockler (used the existing table leg and receiver). I got about $60.00 into this table. Applied three coats of stain/poly. Finished dimensions are 24"L x 16"W (closed) and 24"L x 32"W (opened). It fits nice and gives me more room to move around the cabin when closed - opens up to make a nice table top when dining. Here are a couple photos:
Really nice table job! Could you show the underside in situ (to show off the supports) as we watery types have a weird two legged support thingy (want of better name)
You have to love the effort our members put into projects, awesome value.
Glad to see we're all sending a message to Catalina Yachts: REDESIGN THE 250 CABIN TABLE! Damn fine piece of work, Will, except...the fiddles are all on the underside of the table except when the leaves are folded up. Picky, picky, picky

Exactly the design effect desired. When opened at slip or anchor, no fiddle is wanted but when the table is reduced while under way, a fiddle is needed.
I will take some pictures of the bottom of table next time on the boat to show the hardware.
There is room for a small drawer. The table leg receptacle takes up quite a bit of the space.
The design was to have only fiddles when the table is closed (under way). When table is open at port, I did not want/need them.
It could go to the cockpit if desired. I would need to add a table leg recepticle on the cockpit floor. I am not sure about this yet? There are some flush mount recepticles that might work? or maybe some type of non permanant mount? I need to put more though into this? Mabye some brackets that would mount to the pedistal guard (if I had a pedistal guard - not sure why Catalina doesn't include one of these with the wheel steering option?)?
Wil, your table is exactly how Catalina should build one for the 250, even though it would up the price of the boat a bit. Never crossed my aging mind that fiddles are only for underway. Boats are always stable "on the hook" or a mooring
