After waiting several months, our new 250WB has arrived, and is being commissioned at our local dealer. Several things to note:
1. There is a leak from the starboard coaming box. Limber holes were drilled at the factory, to allow the aft storage compartment to drain into the bilge. 2. The Edson steering cables were attached properly. 3. There are spare gudgeons for the aft mast carrier, so that the rudder can remain in place while trailering, and all gudgeons have backing plates. 4. I think that the backstay is offset to starboard, but I'm not sure as the mast is still wrapped up on the carrier. 5. I got the 135 jib; should be fine for light Tennessee winds. 6. Name will be MAD MOM (MAD is the first initials of my 3 children; MOM is my wife--MAD MOM also describes the Admiral's reaction to yet another years' worth of retirement contributions already spent!)
Can's wait to get her in the water!!

Awesome, welcome to the clan, group, forum, cult, whatever! Don't know how much sailing experience you have but I would offer one really crucial bit of advice for those first few trips....
Thanks alot. This forum played a big part in my decision to buy the 250. I have been sailing about a year, and until recently was owner of a Hunter 170. We will overnight some on the boat, and hopefully will be able to attend some of the group sailing events, although this summer is pretty tight at work, and time off will be scarce.
I will post some pictures as soon as I can; I also plan to join the association.
Sailing is awesome; I can't seem to get enough time on the water.
Arlyn: The cover is cut fore and aft, WITHOUT a piano hinge (of course!) I will be making that mod soon, I expect. First, I will add a 4" Nicro solar fan (probably to the forward hatch) and the pedestal bracket.
I took my "athwartship" V berth hatch covers to Catalina out in Thousand Oaks and they replaced it with fore and aft covers. I, too, shall connect the two with a piano hinge. Now if they'd only get the hint from my cabin table replacement instead of that humongo they equip us with...
