After reading the threads on the C25 forum about 4 spring and 2 spring brackets for their outboards, it got me thinking...
Would it be worth it to install a bracket on a 250?
Pros of using a bracket

Prop is further from rudder.

Tiller is not contstrained by the outboard well

Easier to raise the engine?

More room on stbd side of fuel locker.

Cons

Weight further aft

Cost

Has anyone got a bracket on their C250? reviews????
I have the factory bracket installed on my boat (WK, 817). Since I have not experienced the boat without the bracket I can not comment much on not having one however:
I find that I have no problem raising the engine or rotating in either direction.
I do seem to have a fairly easy time backing the boat once I have learned that you must use the rudder in conjunction with the motor.
I have not installed a 'soft link' (yet) but seem to be able to back ok using the wheel.
I have a 2004 Mercury 8 HP 4 stroke (long shaft) with the shift in the throttle (boy that took a while to get used to!)
The engine is certainly out of the way with the bracket installed. It does not project into cockpit.
