What is the LOA of the 250 model before the catbird seats were added? I understand it is 25',the catbird model 26'11". What year were the catbirds added that increased the LOA to 26'11"?
I'm "in the market" for a 250 BEFORE the catbird seats, i.e. '94 to ?
Thanks.

97 (I think) 94-96 don't have them. I'm not positive I recall correctly about the 97 year model, it could have been in 98. As a side track, you don't say if you're looking for center boarder or wing keel. Finding a wing keel without them would be harder as wing keels weren't available until around hull number 230 (during 96) and many more 95s were made than 96s. Probably not too many wing keels that don't have them.

Production slowed considerably in 96 do to several bad critiques centering around handling problems. Those were sorted out during 96 with a rudder recall, and release of a rudder with adequate control. Initial blame was on water ballast so the wing keel was added but control problems remained so the rudder was diagnosed as inadequate.

I doubt if the seats add any length if the rudder is included but I could be wrong.

My 97 has them. Like Arlyn said, the rudder seems to stick back more than the seats.

Tom, ahh.... my memory worked...this time

But, I'm also at some disadvantage because even though my hull is a 96 model year, I think it may have actually been a left over 95. I took delivery in Jan of '96. I say that because I think true 96 year models had the step in the coaming. Again, I might be wrong.
