the last two times that we filled the fresh water tank, we noticed that the entire bottom of the cabinet under the bathroom sink was filled with water, to the brim. this has never hapened in the six years we have owned this boat. there is no water anywhere else including under the kitchen sink or the bilge. so i am assuming that the water tank itself is in tact. and it only happens right after we fill the water tank. i was wondering if the hose connection to the bathroom sink might be leaking. of course the bathroom sink is one solid unit and very tiny and almost impossible to get any tool in to tighten a hose clamp that may have worked loose. has anyone else experienced this?
Everytime I fill my water tank, water comes out of the spouts,in the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink.....so there must be water pressure in the lines. Just have to make sure spouts are directed into the sinks or I have water to cleanup .....and maybe that was why I always had a clean floors. paulj C250 WK #719
I had that problem one time and found that over the winter the valve cracked during a freeze. must have been some water left in the line. Had to replace it.
I wonder if it's possible for the pump valve to leak and when you fill the tank, the pressure rises enough to push the water that high up? You might try putting a few drops of food coloring in the tank and watch to see what turns color. I've been watching this site for six months or so and have never read anything about a water ballast tank leaking. Has anyone ever heard of a water ballast tank failing?
thank you all for your responses. zebra, how in the world did you replace the valve. i assume it is under the sink, but it is such a tiny space to work in. next time i am at the boat, i will check that out. again, thanks everyone.
Below my head sink is a toliet paper compartment and below that a large door which opens for storage. I installed a small ball valve under the sink through that door without minor problems. Also did the same under the galley sink. I needed them so I could keep pressure off the hand pumps, since I pressure fill my two water tanks. If you only have the leak when you fill the tank I would guess you have a loose connection or a bad hose. A quarter inch socket works best since once you locate the leak repair will have to be done more by feel. Have someone fill the tank while you watch under the sink with a flashlight and mirror. Took some pictures today (8/22)hopefully to better explain mods.
