This is my first post and I love seeing pictures of improvements and modifications people have made! As a direct result, my 'project list' has increased exponentially! Has anyone heard/seen, or even know if it's possible to put the 250 stern chairs on a 1986 25 fin keel? I know the whole stern rail system would have to be replaced/modified, but wasn't sure if it was possible...or cost prohibitive.
Thanks!

One significant problem you'll have is that the C-25, being an older design, has a stern that is a lot narrower than a C-250 and other open transom designs. My guess is that you are right; the whole stern rail system would need to be replaced to make it work.

Stern rail seats on a C25 might render the boarding ladder somewhat unusable.

Interesting bloat name.

<sigh>
...I guess I'll just have to buy a 250 or 270 to get the catbird/stern chairs. (My husband would prefer a wheel anyway.)

Thanks for the feedback!

Steve, I took a look in the Gallery section to remind myself how the C-250 catbird seats are mouted--that was the best close-up I found. Did you do a proper re-naming ceremony, so that Neptune won't keep reminding you of what the name is <i>supposed</i> to be (through his surrogates)?

Don't know how they did it and the photos aren't big enough to tell but here is a 1986 C25 that claims to have catbird seats. Maybe you could e-mail them for details and a photo.

Randy,
Thanks for the lead! I emailed the guy and asked him if he installed the chairs or bought the boat that way. I also asked if he had a swim ladder. I read through the old thread that Dave forwarded and like a poster on that thread, wonder why it's not offered by Catalina as an 'upgrade' unless it's a safety/legal issue. I prefer to stay away from any and all "issues"...especially the legal ones. :)

Very simply, it's an idea that came after the C-25. And as somebody pointed out, with an outboard on the transom, it wants a wider transom, which the C-250 has.

Dave, Funny you ask re proper procedure in boat name change. I just received my boat name in the mail. Don't know why it took over 2 years but it did. A fellow sailor long ago warned me as you so kindly did , re the proper way to change names. I am planning ceremony this weekend. A bottle of champagne is ready to go.
For the rest of you in the same predicament, here is a proper procedure in name changing.

Ok, after 2 long years I finally have renamed boat. Its the same boat above but with new name. . Click on this link.
I had a renaming party last nite and followed the proper protocol pretty much to the T.
