Suzy Q - Engine Control
The engine control modification I did last year has worked out well. It is pretty straight forward as the pictures show. Since I had the Honda engine, I used the Morse brand controls as they will adapt to most any motor. A friend of mine had a Johnson and he used the AMC control set with the same success. With the Honda engine you must purchase a control bracket kit or fabricate one. The Honda bracket is about $60 as I recall. My only mistake was purchasing cables too short. It seems like 6 foot cables would work well, but they were always in a bind. This year I went to 10 foot cables with a
full 360 degree loop and it works very smoothly. I purchased a boot from the local marina and the cables come through the starboard side of the transom.
