Compass Rose - Micro Dodger
I call this a micro dodger. I worked out details with a local
sailmaker. The only attachment to the boat is a few snaps on the teak
trim of the hatch. The ribs are plastic water pipe which fit into some
small aluminum rail that drops into the slot between the hatch and its
supporting rails. It's hard to tell from the photo, but the dodger is
slanted back far enough to cover the entire companionway. I can leave
the hatch open and boards out in a full rainstorm without getting water
in the boat. I only bring it out during rainstorms, other times the
whole thing snaps off and rolls up into a tube to be stored below.
