On Febuary 6 of this year Tempus , Latin for time, ran out of time. A uninsured derelict Hunter 30 caught fire and burned to the water line . The culprit was is in the adjacent slip and damaged my boat beyond reasonable repair . I had insurance and have just settled and time to move on. West wight potter 19 or Montgomery 17 next I think next , I want it in my driveway every winter. Thanks to all on the forum for the years of camaraderie. I will be posting some items that were not attached to the boat in the swap meet section.
Terrible to hear and just be glad no one was injured. Tough to lose something that has brought joy to your life. Hope you find a well founded next chapter. Best of luck!

Wow! Very sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet Catalina 25. It’s very sad. What a freak accident. Of late I’ve heard about a boat fire in coastal CT that took out several others and a boat explosion on a dock near Ft Lauderdale or Jupiter FL(?). Too much negligence, irresponsible boat owners. You mentioned you planned to place some salvage items on the Swap Meet. As of this writing, I haven’t seen anything there.

Yeah , been busy, and letting the dust settle . I put a lot into the boat over the years, like everybody else I guess . My wife did post a package deal on the Catalina 25 owners Facebook Sails and some canvas not sure how it would ship to US . But it is in Canadian funds . I’ll get to the rest of the things in the weeks come.
Angus, Sorry to hear about your boat being damaged by an adjacent boat. This apparently is not an uncommon situation. Every year or so, there is a boat sinking in their slip. But also boats lost to fire and adjacent boats as well. Many years ago, the marina I was in, an old boat caught on fire and also burned down to the waterline. The adjacent boat was also a total loss. In this occurrence it was written about in the newspaper - There was ice in the river and in the marina. By the time a fire and rescue boat was able to get there, the damage was already done. I believe the cause was a heater on board.
The two boats you are considering, they seem quite different. I was wondering how you settled on these two. Is it that they are presently available nearby? I was thinking that there are probably plenty of boats in that size range to consider. A nice boat that I see every so often is a Precision sailboat. Believe they have some models in the same trailerable range. I know there are plenty of others also to consider...just that I use to have an ODay sailboat and I always liked their designs and the Precision line reminds me a lot of the ODay sailboats.
The West Wight Potter.....I have seen that boat. For it's size, it has a lot to offer!
