It may not seem important but if you wish to use a 6'x 8'tarp (or larger tarps) slung over the boom and held in place by bungees you will want to choose these type of fasteners.

They happen to friction-fit perfectly into the deck-hull joint without slipping.

You will notice that they are made without metal and won't rust which is very important when you are in a salty environment

look for them...

Henk - these bungy hooks loo great and non-marring to any surfaces they might touch or rub against. Non-chafing too, where I’ve seen the steel ones wear right through the external plastic coating and do a number on the fiberglass where they are secured.

The marina you’re in looks very picturesque and pleasant. Clean and well-maintained looking also. I like the flag mounted up above your piling. It appears to have a Union Jack on the top with several thin white and blue stripes or waves below it. And seems to picture a golden sunrise over the bottom half.

Pardon my ignorance, but is it a provincial flag? Maybe B.C.? It really adds a lot to your photo.

Bruce... I second your additional bungy comments. We've tried all other types but always searched for the type shown. Only problem is that the bungees will not last much more than a year when under load and exposed to UV but... store well.

The photo was taken during one of our trips to Desolation Sound on the west coast of British Columbia while in Refuge Cove. It is a well visited, very popular jumping off place heading north deeper into the Sound.

It used to have the mail flown in by plane and perhaps still does, has a wonderful equipped store with ice-cream, a board walk a small restaurant, generator, couple of year-round families and a garbage barge where, for a couple of dollars, you can dispose of your garbage.

The flag you mentioned is the flag of British Columbia flag showing a sinking sun (west coast) in the picture. The photo was taken sometime around 2014 when we still owned our first love a '95 C250WB.

We were readying ourselves for a couple of weeks exploring Desolation Sound all the way to Toba Inlet before heading south again.

Here is a perfect example of how the bungees friction fit into the deck-hull joint without doing any damage or leaving ugly scratches or rust marks while securely holding the tarp in place

I've heard or read that regular sunscreen applied to the covers on bungees can extend their life in the sun. I never tested it because I haven't left bungees exposed for significant periods.
