Reason I asked is when I was looking in Maine and Portsmouth NH for a boat, I found plenty for sale, but no where to put it. I am on a few waiting lists, but some of them are 10 years long. Part of the reason I bought the boat I did was the slip was transferrable. I love Casco Bay, have kayaked many times through there and off of Peak's Island. Spent 5 glorious days island hopping a few years ago. Never rained once and we never had fog, simply amazing.
Yes- when we sailed up from the Chesapeake we were amazed at how limited the slip situation was up here. Fortunately for residents of Portland or South Portland, moorings in Portland harbor are pretty available and pretty cheap. There is one marina that I know of that does not have a waiting list system: whatever opens open each year is advertised by mail, and you get them on a first come / first served basis. Let me know if you ever want more information on that. Justin Andrus (on the forum) also knows the ropes as far as where to put in on Casco Bay...
Hi: Happen to be the owner of #5645. Nice to see my older "sister" ended up in New England as well. I sail on Narragansett Bay. I use to live in Portland, Me. so I know Casco Bay although I never sailed on it. Good luck in selling your boat.
I would love nothing more than to buy her. I live in Northern Michigan and the wait list for a mooring is around 15 years. So I must trailer for now. Without a trailer I have to keep looking. Sounds like a great boat.!!
Just a note to say that she is still available! I've decided to put her in the water for the season but if anybody wants to see her I'd be happy to take you out for a sail around the islands...
Just an update on Spirit: she's still available! For those who may find my location a problem, I will consider delivering / shipping her to the buyer. I have my eye on our next catch and I would love to make a deal happen. Come and see her if you are thinking about buying a C25...
Spirit has been listed with South Freeport Yacht Sales and the asking price has been adjusted (see edited first post in this thread). All reasonable offers still considered!!!
Hey thanks for asking, Rick. She is going to a good home out on Long Island, NY out of the Peconic Bay area.
I'm sorry that we missed each other a couple of times last season- the invitation is still open to come sailing if you're ever over this way, now it'll be on our Ericson 34 "Peregrine".
I'll still be hanging around here with this great group of sailors though!
Looks like I'll be your "neighbor" this summer. I'm moving Swimmer to Casco, either a marina in South Portland, looking at that Saturday, or if I can make arangements, a mooring at Handy's in Falmouth. I plan on getting involved with GMORA, if not with Swimmer, as crew on another boat. Thanks for the invite!
Thanks, Ed. I didn't want to take the liberty of putting your names in the thread- but now I can formally introduce you to the Association. This is a great resource with hugely helpful people- well worth the meager dues payment! It has really added to our enjoyment of the boat over the last 6 years.
