Last year my wife and I bought our first boat, a Catalina 250. We love it, and it is just the right size for us in Colorado.

Over the summer a problem developed between the cabin and the hatch. The hatch cover slides toward the bow to open. It slides on a thick vinyl (I guess) tape to protect the cabin's fiberglass. The tape has deteriorated and separated from the fiberglass, and I need to replace it.

Can any one suggest where I might go to get the replacement tape? I have tried West Marine and other Internet boat supplies sites with no success.

Regards,

Welcome aboard! Hope you'll share some Colorado sailing stories with us.

We just took our old tape off & lubricate the track once or twice a year. No problem!

Welcome, you'll love the boat.

As far as the hatch, same here, get rid of the tape and wax or silicone the track. Works good, lasts a long time.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am glad both of you have had a good experience with that approach. I haven't heard from anyone on any other alternative, including Catalina. I will probably try that out this spring.

We haven't put the boat in (it just snowed over easter), but we will putting it in Pueblo Reservoir soon. Our summer slip is ready and if they keep enough water in the lake we will be sailing until October. I can't wait!
