CD sent me (and probably many of our forum members) an email announcing their annual Sail Sale. It generally runs for a weekend or two in the fall when you place your order and they deliver your new sails in the early spring in time for next year’s boating season.
This is for information only, I don’t have any relationship with CD or their sail vendors.
They provided a web link for the ad here if you’re interested. Apparently it’s a good value for the money given the quality of the product, however others in years past have mentioned that they could buy new sails for a better price.
If I were in the market for new sails, I’d definitely check them out. Happy sailing

When buying sails, price should not be your main concern. I bought a discount genoa that was so poorly shaped that it was practically useless. I repaired my old genoa and continued to use it most of the time. Good sailmakers will stand behind their products. $100. might make the difference between a good sail and a sail you can't use.

I should clarify that Ullman, who makes sails for CD, is a very good, reputable sailmaker.

A forum Search on "Ullman" will get some threads on the maker CD has long worked with. Checking "Archived Posts" will get you several days of reading.

Regarding background on their advice, CD sent out an earlier email last week to prep everyone for this one.
In it, they discussed the need to provide good quality products at a more affordable price. If I were interested in new sails, I would definitely call them to learn about the features and benefits of their products.

Here’s the text:

quote:
Dear Fellow Sailors,

We are proud to say that we will be able to continue our annual Sail Sale this year. However, it will be shorter than usual. Call our staff of experienced sailors at 800/959-7245 with questions about any of our sails.

The Sail Sale will start next week. Look for the coming announcement for all of the details.

Buying a furling sail? Please use this weekend to measure your max hoist. In addition, unless you already know the make and model of your furling gear, take two photos; one of the furling drum / winding mechanism and one of the luff foil itself to help identify your furler.

Need a furling heads'l? Cick here to learn how to properly measure max hoist.
Have in-mast furling? Click here to learn how to properly measure max hoist.

Suppliers and manufacturers at every level are having a hard time sourcing manpower. Even some materials are still difficult to come by. Our suppliers protested the idea of an off-season sale under these conditions.

However, we know many of our customers rely on our off-season sale to purchase the sails they need. We negotiated with our suppliers to keep the Sail Sale. In exchange we agreed to shorten the duration and give them a long lead time to produce the sails.

Our mission is to keep you and your favorite Catalina sailing. We provide many obscure parts to do so. Every purchase helps with this mission.

Thank you for your support!

I've purchased a furling job through Catalina Direct a few years ago.
I am happy with the quality.

Note: This website has no financial relationship with Catalina Direct.
I do know Catalina Direct is endorsed Catalina Yachts, so it's not a knockoff trying to use a similar name.
