Truthfully Ray in Western Long Island Sound area this has been just a rainy day. No wind to speak of. The eastern end might be a different story. Dave? Bruce?

Agree that on Western Long Island Sound very little wind, some rain but not crazy and still waiting for anticipated storm surge. Understand Eastern LIS it is windy but no worse than a Nor'easter. It appears we have dodged yet another bullet -- for now!

Yepper it is amazing how calm the back side of these storms are... we usta say anything under 100mph winds was just a storm.

Fred just passed us last Thursday and we were on the windward side of it and it was a flood, and dramatic even this far from the coast.

In the SE corner of CT, the center of Henri came ashore just miles from here at the CT/RI line, having sharply declined from Cat 1 to Tropical Storm. We had 30-45 N winds with heavy rain--quite a scene--and a little less surge than predicted--maybe 3-4' above our full moon tides today. Southerly Gusts to around 70 and big seas were reported further east in RI. After a half-hour eye, the wind turned S, ramped up into the 20s gusting to 30s, with a fine mist that might have been spray from the ocean outside Montauk Point, Long Island. We had that in Sandy--left a fine film of salt on our whole complex 25 miles away.

This weekend was Wooden Boat Magazine's big show at the Mystic Seaport--a great scene that was folded up Saturday afternoon for the storm today. One handsome, classic wooden lobster yacht that was in the show dropped anchor for the night near the Seaport, and dragged up onto a rocky shore nearby. I got a sorry picture of it. Recovery will be tricky--they might have to lift it off. There are undoubtedly more stories, but hopefully not for more classic boats!

Sarge rode it out with 9 lines and ample fenders at our dock. All electronics and canvas were removed from the helm, but the exposed comapnioway let some water into the cabin--for removal when the rain stops Tuesday. Best of all, the dock didn't float away!

Agreed, we got about 1/2” of rain and 10-20kts of wind at its worse. I worked on my back porch deck for awhile in the afternoon (I’m redoing it using Trex). My marina closed off the docks anticipating a horrendous storm. Aside from the 60-70 mph winds in Rhode Island and a big flood in New Jersey, I’d say that Mr Henri was a no show.
I’d rather be lucky than good.

Glad you guys were not hit hard this time. We didn't fare so well in TN. Three counties southwest of Nashville got about 14 inches of rain in 12 hours, flash flooding in several places. As of yesterday, 10 dead and 20 still missing. we just got steady fairly light rain. Need to check on my boat today for scuppers clogged with leaves.

Tennessee was/is a horror story! Unbelievable pictures. Ruined lives, and lost ones...

CT didn't get off that easily--power was lost in many places all over the state, except the SW corner. The combination of wind and rain on already-saturated soil made lots of trees come down. As I write this, we're getting rain from the backside of Henri now that he's made a U-turn and is headed NE into central Massachusetts, as expected.

Three more "disturbances" are trying to form up now in the Atlantic and Caribbean...

I don't mean to make light of your troubles. however, I heard today that the official rainfall in the 3 TN counties was 17 inches, and that the death toll has gone up to 20 with more than a dozen still missing. Tough situation all around. Our prayers go out to them, as well as to folks in the northeast facing storm damage. For a lot of folks, life will never be the same again.

Indeed CT's current "troubles" are mostly inconveniences. TN's are horrendous, as has been the case in fire zones, tornado wipe-outs, Haiti's quake, and on and on. Aid agencies and governments are being stretched.
