My 1985 C-25 came with the boom vang lower end connected to a hound riveted to the mast. The P.O. had the downhaul also connected to the vang hound. Do any of you feel using this hound for both the downhaul and boom vang places too much stress on the hound/mounting? I'd consider installing a bail, but there's not enough space between the mast base and existing boom vang hound. Removing the hound and reinstalling it further up the mast might be an option, but I'm hesitant to drill more holes in the bottom of the mast even though it is annodized. Another option might be to find a bail large enough to fit outside the mast base "ears", although this piece of hardware would be quite large and the mast base bolt would have to be longer to accommodate the bail.
