I went to that a few times, although not in awhile. It was always a great time. Another former member and I wrote a Mainsheet article about one of them back in the day. I still have some of the vendor freebies I won - a Raytheon handheld VHF, Lewmar winch handle holder, etc. And it was always a thrill to meet and hear speak, Frank Butler and Gerry Douglas.
As I recall they used to do a West Coast and an East Coast rendezvous either every year or alternating years. I have not heard of an East Coast event for a number of years -- hope they still do them.

No evidence of that on their site... They had one in Mystic a few years ago, with Frank Butler and the works. But have you looked into the Long Island Sound Catalina Association (LISCA)? They have events summer and winter. Looking at their event calendar (saillisca.com), I see an old friend, Bonnie Zipeto, was organizer of their "Lobsters on the Beach" rendezvous last September--usually it's in Oyster Bay. They haven't listed it for this year.

Thank you Richard for posting your Mainsheet article from 2002.
I received another email from Catalina Yachts and Registration closes this Friday, July 6th To register, please use the link to the Catalina Yachts website.
How many -- or is anyone -- planning on attending this event? Would love to know how Frank Butler is doing, assuming shows up.
Frank Butler did not attend. His absence was addressed as aging mobility issues... no blame there... Two Harbors does not have the friendliest dinghy dock.
Thankfully not my dinghy but you can sense how crowded the docks are...
Horrible to say, but I would have loved to see the owner of that inflatable's face upon returning! I have never had a dingy for the purpose of getting to/from any of my boats, but I tend to prefer rigid vs RIB -- and this is why.
