My new Mainsail cover arrived yesterday from Sailors' Tailor , I'm very impressed with the quality of workmanship and material for the price , went with the stainless twist snap upgrade as well . Just have to see how it fits the new main now . Thanks for the referral Steve .
Angus, They call the material “Acrylic”. Is that the same as Sunbrella fabric, without the brand name? Is the fabric waterproof, does water bead up when it hits? Is the fabric super stiff or is it more pliant? Sunbrella is more like thick canvas than a contractor’s tarp. Are there a lot of loose threads on the edge of the fabric, or have the edges been sewn back or sealed? What do you think?

It seems like a heavy sunbrella type fabric the inside feels just about rubber coated a bit stiff being new . No loose threads, it looks like they ran the machine back and forth where they ended a seam . Shipping weight was six lbs . A heavy nylon zipper at the mast . It looks like it snaps up aft of the boom as well . It all looks pretty good to me .
Glad you like it Angus. We all have different expectations, but I like the fabric, which is heavier than Sunbrella, and I've never seen better workmanship on a mainsail cover. It holds its shape and hangs nicely. It isn't a big factory. The owner makes most of the sailing items himself, and he has seamstresses who make other products. Incidentally, he has won a whole bunch of national championships in several different classes of racing dinghies, as has his son, so he knows what sailors like.

I ordered a cabin cover from these guys and should receive it in a few weeks. They don't have it listed on their site but it will be similar to their C27 cover and cost $440.
I went ahead and ordered the new sail cover. Being the new guy in the marina I’d like to make a good first impression. Now I need to order a new Bimini cover!

Thanks to someone stealing 1/3 of the center bow on my bimini and a storm subsequently ripping my bimini to shreds I need to order a whole new bimini myself. I'd be interested in what size you end up purchasing and from whom.
My original bimini was made by Carver Industries. It lasted 10 years.
Gary, sorry to hear that. Next time I’m at Passage I’ll take a look at the Bimini label. I don’t know what yours looked like but I’ll describe mine. Do you still have the stainless tubing framing? On Passage, the stainless tube consists of a forward arch, a middle arch and a rear arch. Nylon straps hold the middle arch at a specific distance or angle from the forward one. The rear tube is held in place by the cover. The entire bimini can pivot forward and back to cover the companionway hatch if it’s raining or the rear part of the cockpit if the late day sun is too strong. I’ll take a photo or two.

Thank you Bruce! Pictures and possibly a measurement would be great.
Mine is just aluminum but is rigged up just like you described. I do have all the tubing except what was stolen but Carver will not sell me just the one piece. Besides, with the old bimini shredded I might as well replace the whole thing. My concern is getting the correct height.
I tried to get in touch with someone at Carver and give them the dimensions of what I have left so I could just order a replacement bow and a new bimini skin but the person that answered the phone was very unhelpful and advised there was no one else I could speak to about it.
GaryB - I took a few measurements. First the SS bimini poles attach just behind the cockpit bulkhead by the cabin. They attach directly to the gunwales. The adjustment struts also attach to the gunwales and the other end attaches to the midpoint of the bimini poles. The struts are attached 46” behind the bimini poles. So the base is 46”. The bimini cover sits on all three bimini poles about 44” above the gunwales. The boom sits about 46-48” above the gunwales so I’ve got a few inches of clearance. The length of the top of the bimini from fore to aft is about 66”. It just covers the open companionway with the slider hatch closed to about the last third of the cockpit. One thing I wish my bimini has was a Velcro strip on the back to attach a removable flap that would hang down half way. Good to keep the late day sun out of the cockpit on those blistering days. The width (beam) of the bimini is about 75”. I hope this gives you an idea. If not drop me a line on email and I’ll forward some pix. Reach me on Bruce2Sail at Ay Oh Ell dot com.

So if I understand your measurements the center bow is approx. 46" above the gunwale, correct? Did you happen to measure from the cockpit sole to the top of the bimini? I PM'd you my email address thru the forum link. Let me know if you don't see it.
Hi Angus, I ordered the sail cover a few weeks ago and since then all the feedback I’ve gotten was a “thank you for placing your order” email. How long did it take to get your order???

Hey Bruce , I got a email a couple days after I ordered , saying order received ,they did not have one in stock at the time and it would be four weeks for delivery , I was fine with that . It arrived to my US mailing address in two weeks .
Nice, thanks. There are two times each year when boat fabric shops are crazy busy May launch time (now) and October haul time. Good luck my old one is still serviceable. I’ll use that one until the new one shows up.
