I've been noticeing my thru haul valve for the head sink is a bit stiff , was just reading about marelube , has anyone tried it ? Is it the right thing for the " plastic thu haul valve lube ?
All I can tell you is what I do. Every time or most times that I get my boat annually pressure washed, I bring a small brush with a tube of bicycle synthetic grease and shove some of it up the thru hull to get some lube on the ball of the seacock. Then when I get back to my slip, I cycle the valve a few times. My seacocks are now not unduly stiff to operate. I generally leave them in the shut position anyway.
My plan is to leave the boat in the lake this winter ,( barring a particularly harsh winter ) take it out next fall and do a long list of out of water projects , bottom paint etc . Then hopefully leave it in for 2 to 3 year intervals . So I was hoping the liquid Marelube would work , seems like it's the right product I can't find any negative feed back on line . I leave mine closed as well and open and close them every week and while using . Could be me but it doesn't seem like something that should be left open.
The marelube appears to be dialectic grease so if you want to use that then just get some from an auto store. I have a pool so I use a pool lube that's made for pumps and O rings. Some boaters pour a little vegetable oil down the sink for a short time fix.

That does make sense , I seem to have developed a minor Catalina Direct addiction with two Catalina's over the last 6 years . Get the itch if I don't have something to pick up every month or two.
I use Vaseline. Works well. During the summer I usually keep my head sink drain valve open. I use the sink frequently to wash up. I have new hose and two new hose clamps on my through hull fitting. So far, so good.
