Look how high she floats in the stern. Not just having the boot stripe raised either, judging from seeing the curves in the skeg. Agree on her being an inboard, must have a lightweight one? Maybe something like a lightweight Volvo saildrive?

I have three pintles/gudgeons on my rudder also, but the third one is just above the bottom one

OJ, where did you take the picture?

This one does appear to have an exhaust through the transom in the spot where I've seen them. The rudder has been upgraded... also the grounding system for their lightning protection (the swim ladder in the water). Hope that's fresh water.

That looks like a C250 swim ladder!

Our previous 1981 C25 had the stern light in the same position.

The extra (middle) pintle is only the pintle - no gudgeon.

The picture was taken at Bahia Honda State Park located on Big Pine Key in Florida. It was tied-up at a public dock within the park - yep salt water.

I went and found a photo of my boat and it sits higher in the stern, even with a 100# Tohatsu sitting on the transom. If anything Abbey appears to sit lower in the stern than I'd expect for an inboard boat.

Click here for a similar profile photo of my boat:
http://alexandchristine.smugmug.com/Sailing/Lutra-April-2012/i-qxSRvp3/X3

This was taken a few weeks after I bought it, and before I had done 6 months worth of work on it. Don't judge me on it's looks :).

The ladder looks exactly like the replacement C25 ladder that Catalina Direct sells. I bought one after my original rusted through (a PO probably let it sit in the water).

I have to say that I don't get having an inboard on a C25. It is a lot of money to have reduced sailing performance compared to the outboard model, unless you spend even more money on a feathering or folding prop.

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">A 25' sailboat with an outboard is notorious for poor performance under power in big chop, and coastal cruisers often find themselves under power more than under sail. For that issue, an inboard is superior, even if it isn't for speed on the racecourse. I wanted an outboard for simplicity, accepting the possibility of some prop-spinning. Different strokes...
