After 8 years of sailing a Cape Dory 25D I am ready to come back to my roots. That is my C25 roots. I always missed the people on this forum and we had the best of times on our C25.
So...we are in the market for a 1989 to 1991 C25 wing (isn't everyone!). I hope to get back to this group soon.
Thanks
Bruce Ebling

Actually, you never had to leave... Some of us refuse to do so.

I came very close to buying a CD-26 (basically the 25D with an outboard mounted in a transom lazaret that adds the foot), but the Catalina 25 was a better choice for the docking situation we had--long story... I've always had a soft spot for the Alberg-designed Cape Dories, especially the 36 cutter. If I hit the lottery, I just might go for a new one (from Robinhood).

You have been missed. Check out the photo storage abilities of the forum, a real improvement over the old forum. I miss my '89 wing but downsized to a Hobie for a while and now sail a Starwind 223. I probably should stop posting but I'm not going anywhere until Dave and Steve give up... that will be NEVER!

I looked at that boat. It is a long way from the west coast! I am also trying to stay in the ten grand range for a new boat. Would also like to see a 4 cycle engine and roller furling. Otherwise it is a BEAUTIFUL boat and I love the name!!

I've heard good things about fin keels Bruce. I can get you into an 80 at a good price. ;O)
any rate: welcome back to Cat 25's and good luck in your search.

I personally think a good late model wing keel is worth 12k. If a Catalina 25 is what you want, then you should buy what you want but pay for a good one so you will be as happy with it as possible. Its the memories... not the money.

One question is, why the wing? If for ramp launching from a trailer, OK... If for extremely skinny water, it's arguable... (A foot is a foot, I guess.) Otherwise, conventional wisdom is the fin is the best sailing C-25.

In the past I have owned two fin keels and one wing. My main reason for a wing in both skinny water, easier launching and it fits under my carport. I agree that the fin is the best sailing boat, but I am willing to sacrifice a bit of performance for easier launching and storage.

Can't argue with that.
