I can't find the link right now, though.
Association members can get a $75 discount from Online Outboards for either Tohatsu or Nissan outboards. Click on the Members Area link on the left side of the page & follow the prompts to get to the various deals available.
I have a Nissan 8hp electric start XLS O/B 1992 vintage that has been recently serviced and runs perfectly. It comes with a 3 gallon tank and fuel line. Would probably need picking up at Canyon Lake as shipping would be horrendous. $400
Thank you everyone! Great information and I ALMOST bought a new OB motor. THose prices from the online stores were amazingly cheap! However, Today, I went out and looked at a couple of used OB's and found a 2006 Mercury 6HP. It was in VERY good condition so I bought it and took it straight to my boat. Runs like a champ!! That Mercury 6 does an awesome job of pushing my C-25 around on the lake. Im a happy sailor, once again.
Oh, and now I have joined the ranks of four stroke engines....
Regarding the picture: Neither boat is mine. This picture was taken by a good friend of mine at the LWSC Genoa Regatta. We were working as Race Committee that day and these two boats are Catalina 22's, battling it out. We hope to post a very similar picture of two C-25's shortly.

I have a 8HP Suzuki but it reverse is non-existent. Just wondering if this motor has a little better reverse.
BTW... I was up at New Braunfels last week and saw your new boat from a distance. Didn't have a chance to go over and look at it up close (we'd rented a boat for a couple of hours and the wife was hot). Nice looking boat!
The Mercury 6 has as stock prop and reverse is as powerful as going forward. I only use the motor to get me out of the slip, turned around, and headed towards the open water which is where I launch the sails.... This 6hp seems to be more powerful than my 1984 Evinrude 8. It seems to push my 25 through the water a bit faster....... Or that is my perception. Could just be the beer....
Hi GaryB, I don't know what kind of prop the Nissan has - but it goes nicely in reverse! I just finished getting the boat into shape for racing, doing all the little 'go-faster" items. I even put 4 coats of PolyGlow on the hull (after getting all the old stuff off with PolyPrep). In the 90 degree heat it took about 2 hours.
Absolutely not being rude, Capt Mike. We are all family here.
My OB was listed for $600. I found several small issues, like the kill switch was broken and lanyard missing, they had done a bad job of adding camo paint to it (which came off with some serious scrubbing with a very small amount of gasoling), etc....
If you feel you're not getting enough power in reverse, you might consider changing out your prop for a lower pitched prop. You get more thrust at lower RPM at the cost of lower high end speed. Since our boats can't go much faster than about 7 knots anyway, this isn't a bad trade. I bought a lower pitched prop for my Tohatsu, but have never found the need to install it as the stock prop seems to work well. I keep it as a spare now. Here's a decent article about prop pitch.

Also, any chance it's a 4 stroke (probably too early for that, huh?). If not, does it have oil injection so you don't have to mix oil/gas.

You'd here him put his motor in reverse as he passed our slip, the engine noise would get quieter and quieter as he kept drifting forward. Then you'd start to hear the engine, louder and louder until he finally backed in the slip next door. It was hilarious!
