To All -

I'm looking for a local loft to buy a new 135% Genoa. It looks like I can get one from North Sail Direct for about $800. Does anyone have a discount code for NS Direct? An option it to buy it locally, any suggestions? I also need a repair to the Head of my 150% from a slight mishap last season. Sutton Sail Repair in Stratford looks like the best option so far.

Best regards,

FX sails online/shipped is pretty good with prices (obviously not local)... Rolly Tasker is also very reasonable... and Sailcare for repairs of your existing... Sorry I am no help with local lofts.

PS: Don't write off Catalinadirect either, their prices are OK too, and I think they source from Ullman.

I don't know anything about them but they are in Westbrook.http://www.kappasails.com/
If your looking at an off the shelf sail, I would measure your maximum hoist/luff length if you have a roller furler. Most off the shelf head sails are 28ft. My maximum hoist with my roller is 27'9" so as you can see the off the shelf sail wouldn't work for me.

I've used Hathaway, Reiser & Raymond in Stamford for repairs and cleaning. They're a sailmaker, too. I can't promise that they're price-competitive... Probably not.

I got sails from Island Planet two years ago and am quite happy with them. The main was 575 anf the 135 was 625.

Thanks for the input. CD is probably the best assurance that it will fit. Sometimes they have a 20% Off sale on their Ullman's. Maybe I'll fix my 150% and use my standard jib with a sock for now. Either way, I won't let it stop me from getting out. Just have to replace my keel cable and I'm good to go.

Thanks again,

I ordered a new loose footed main and a 135 rf genoa from them about two years ago. I have a CDI furler and had no problem with the fit. The only problems I did have were 1) it took twice as long to receive the sails as they stated, 2) they failed to send or fix the C25 logos to the main. Otherwise they work great.

However, if I happen to need to purchase new sails in the future, I will visit my local lofts first. I have a local North loft and Doyle who seems to be making the factory Catalina sails now.

I highly recommend Farrar sails in New London. I had a jib for my C-22 that had tears along the UV strip and it was in very rough shape. They were very responsive and repaired the sail & sewed a new UV strip on the jib. I think I spend $300 but the sail was in rough shape and will now last for another 5-10 years.

I would check them out for your repairs: www.farrarsails.com
