I have a mint condition pop top cover. It's never been used. I can't figure out how to post a photo to the forum from my iPhone. If interested shoot me an email & I'll be able to send photos. What is a fair price? I have no idea?

Top arrived-in very good shape. I did the magic Sam cleaning and it really looks good. Then decided to check the fit and I joined Howard in the "does not quite fit" club. Well I'm glad it cleaned up for you with a little magic! I was really hoping it would. I bet leaving it out in the sun to get hot and soft will get it to fit.
When you get a new top for a Jeep, BesTop even says to leave it in the bright, warm sun for at least an hour before trying to tension it the first time.
Joe - did mine fit on your boat? We were able to get it to fit on Iris, but we did have to apply some force.
The one we sent you has been in various cool shady places for some time - the dumpster, the quarterberth, our garage, the basement, so it may have shrunk. Unless heat shrinks them.
Paul more than the pics would be the measurements both the lengh of the sides and the distance/location of the snaps The last couple that we have sent around were done for postage :-) about $17 if the measurements fit I would give you an easy 100 for it, unless you wanted to send it for just postage!!!!!!!! How is that gang?
I haven't tried it yet....I've been focused on doing teak, spring cleaning, motoring my new SailPro to break it in, and trying to sail when I can.
I've got to get a snap kit. I already have snaps on the boat, and they may be for a pop-top cover....or, they may be for a canvas cabin cover. In either case, I'm betting I'll have to stretch fit the pop-top cover and install new snaps. Not hard to do, just place them where they need to be, drill a small pilot hole and screw the snap down.
I looked at our owners list....'78's here go from 381 to 824 with one anomaly of #44378.....and I guess Catalina didn't use sequential numbers for hull numbers? That number would suggest a late '81 or early '82.....not a '78.
Wow, they made 500-1000 of them a year!?!? That's impressive, and would tend to contradict what I'd heard from Catalina Direct about Catalina's production techniques (outsourcing production of components and ordering only 10-20 of something, then possibly switching manufacturers, etc.).
Confetti is hull # 1 - 1976 (about 55 boats this year) #55 - 278 are all 1977 (about 223 boats registered from this year) #381 - 824 are all 1978 (about 443 boats registered from this year) #919 - 1478 are all 1979 (about 559 boats registered from this year) #1672 - 2160 are all 1980 (about 488 boats registered from this year) #2213 - 2650 are all 1981 (about 437 boats registered from this year) #2773 - 3415 are all 1982 (about 642 boats registered from this year) (I think this is about the time the Florida plant came online) #3435 - 4020 (+/-) are all 1983 (about 585 registered from boats this year) (Some confusion in numbering exists in the 1982 - 1984 boats due to the 2 plants both producing the same hulls at the same time.) #4040 - 4744 are all 1984 (about 700 boats registered from this year) #4762 - 5163 are all 1985 (about 400 boats registered from this year) #5225 - 5483 are all 1986 (about 258 boats registered from this year) #5574 - 5695 are all 1987 (about 121 boats registered from this year) #5736 - 5801 are all 1988 (about 65 boats registered from this year) #5820 - 5994 are all 1989 (about 174 boats registered from this year) #5999 - 6022 are all 1990 (about 22 boats registered from this year) #6027 - 6031 are all 1991 (about 4 boats registered from this year)
There are a number of entries in the owners registration that are dubious. Some of these are due to the duplicity of numbers in production, some are likely typos, and some could be due to errors on registration paperwork, and some could be due to HIN's that are difficult to read some 3 years post-production. But 6,000 boats over 15 years aint bad. And yeah, in its glory years, they were pushing out 600 - 1,000 boats per year, split between the two plants. At a boat per day per plant, ordering 30 pintles for Florida and 30 pintles for California would be a month's supply of parts, possibly from 2 different manufacturers. And because the HIN #'s were shared between the plants, but suppliers could vary, your parts may not match parts found on the boat with the next HIN number. But they match parts found on a C-22 built in the same plant on the same day.
