I've got a Small Seaward propane locker that's just taking up space in my garage. It fits a 1 gallon (4lb) propane tank and is about 13"x13"x13" in size. It came with the propane tank I bought a while back, and I thought maybe I could use it somewhere on SL, but it doesn't fit anywhere. I don't know if it'll fit on a C-25 or not, but figured I'd offer it up.
This could be an attractive upgrade for earlier boats. C250 boats prior to 1998 used butane cans installed under the galley cabinet. I saw some of these when I was shopping two years ago. I think some really early ones may have used CNG cans.
The LPG upgrade sacrifices the starboard cockpit locker to the LPG locker, but it's a safer setup. However, the upgrade needs more than this locker, including venting the gas out the transom and installing an electric solenoid. The Princess burner might also need an orifice change (or complete replacement) to convert from butane to propane.
Our boat never came with a propane set up and this is too big to fit in our cockpit lockers. As Rick pointed out, boats before 1998 didn't have them (ours is a '97). I thought maybe I could mount it under one of the catbird seats, but that didn't seem overly practical. I'm OK with the 1lb canisters inside the boat while we're cooking, but most of our cooking is done on our BBQ on the stern. I have the propane tank that came with the enclosure, which took some refurbishing as it was quite rusty, but now it looks like a new penny.
