We are looking for a Catalina 25 with the following features: 1988-1990; Wing Keel; Standard Height Mast; Roller Furling with Genoa; Mainsail Cover; 9.9 hp Engine with Electric Start; Porta-Pottie; Tandem Trailer; Mast Lifting System. We are looking for a well found and well cared for boat,in good to excellent condition. We will provide the same care and attention. We have been sailing for many years and have had a number of boats. Syracuse, New York
For ~$150 and a few hours work, you can pull out the marine head and put in a porta-potti but, I wouldn't until it was necessary to replace the head. There are dozens of threads here for creating an a-frame or gin pole to replace the missing mast raising system on the trailer. Interesting that this boat, that has been sailed in fresh water on a small Maine lake has an EPIRB.

They're stealing from YOU!

You're right, of course. My head is stuck in the past somewhere. I think it might have something to do with wishful thinking regarding the re-sale value of my boat.
In this economy, with as many boats are on the market, $14k is a joke. Even pristine and perfect, with new rigging, sails, motor.
That 89 winger with a trailer for $8k might be a good deal. There's no mention or pictures of a motor, but you can see the mount in the quarter berth shot. I'd take a really close look at the boat. You can easily add $3k for a new main and motor, if you buy brand new. May need a bottom job....'nother $1k there. Doesn't look like it has any electronics. You might be upwards of $14k once you get this one ready if the rigging is bad.

Not selling, but if we were it would be a blood bath. The enjoyment we receive more than outweighs the investment.
Same here OJ. I paid 10.2 for mine 9/06 without a trailer. Not a terrible price for a 89 wing with new rigging and a 01 Tohatsu 8 but sure wouldn't get that now. And you're also right about Bristle, he always comes up with that alternative angle/point of view. A good curmudgeon to have around I think!
As ya'll know (that is from the South) I have been looking for a while and the prices continue to come down for the folks that don't need the boat or have a change in family status. There are a few who have not changed the price but those are the ones sitting on a trailer or a free dock so there is not an expense for waiting.
Saw this one today. I know it's not 100% what you're looking for and not sure about it's keel or furler. Anyway, just passing it along since I've seen it at my marina.

Alas captains and sailors, I weighed all the pluses and minuses and decided to buy Bobbin. You all know I have been looking for a long time.
She is 1982 Catalina Swing Keel Dinette model, hull #2963, full cushions recently done Roller furling, Custom Build Galvanized CC Rider Trailer with surge brakes, whisker pole and small solar panel. Two extra head sails. She is sound, needing some TLC, and a few pieces corner of wood replaced. She is powered by a 2000 Nisan NS9.8BEF4 electric start, very long shaft motor. And no, she does not have a marine head.
The price value decision was that she had a lot to offer, needed some TLC, and was a blank canvas I could mold into the boat I wanted. And priced really low. I had the bottom painted at the yard and new brakes put on the trailer (did not want 4500 pounds not stopping behind me!)
She is on the hard in the back driveway in Mt Pleasant SC –outside Charleston, SC-and I am taking her apart and re=assembling her to what I want. When I finish, she will be fit for me at thousands less than I could have bought the boat. Just have to add a little elbow-grease.
I talked to the last three owners by phone, tracing her linage back to 1997. Most of her life was on NC lakes, recently the last 3 years in Washington, NC on the Pamlico River.
I have registered with the association so I can be a full-fledged member as well. As most say, It is not the end of my search, it is a beginning of the Catalina experience. Will get some pics up soon.
