Ok, I orderd the boom vang from CD and then it occurred to me that my boom actually sort of rests on the frame for my bimini. Is that going to be a problem vis a vis the boom vang? Thanks.
Unless you have an extremely long bimini, the vang attachment point on the boom won't be a problem, but with or without a vang, you would want to avoid the boom touching your bimini as it may chafe the canvas. If you just need an inch or so of clearance, hoist your main fully, harden the mainsheet, then adjust or cut down the bimini frame so the boom doesn't rub the canvas.
It shouldn't be a problem, if the sail is the correct size, and you raise the sail all the way to the top of the mast, and the bimini is installed to fit correctly. If all that is true and the boom still touches the bimini, then you will have to cut an inch or two off the leg of the bimini. The vang doesn't pull the boom down further than normal. It keeps it from lifting higher than it should.
Most biminis aren't made specifically to fit a particular boat. When the bimini is installed, the owner has to trim the legs with a hack saw to make it fit. It isn't difficult.
