Thanks everyone for your comments and advice. I'm thinking this the way the light is suppose to be (no lens) I probably will put some kind of sealant around the base of bulb to keep out the moisture. I'm also putting on all new standing rigging (CD) which came UPS today. I don't know if you remember but my boat had swing keel problems back in April (keel lifting cable broke and keel swung down with such force that it punched a hole in the trunk, almost sinking the boat in the slip) All has been repaired and looks really strong with several layers of matt as well as kevlar fiberglass. I will try to get all the pictures of the process posted later. Also ordered the gasket repair kit for the windows form CD. Hopefully I can get all this done in time for some great fall/winter sailing here in eastern North Carolina. Thanks again for everyones input.
I took this photo with my camera zoom. What do you make of it. It looks like a lens with a hole cut in it to let the bulb stick out partially ( probably due to the excess heat). If it were the reflector, then wouldn't you see the whole bulb outside the reflector ?
The long lens compresses the depth perception. Looks like a bulb with a reflector around it to me, but then there are few depth cues. Hard to say how far in or out the bulb is.
