<< I'm thinking about changing the name of my boat to For Sale. >>
Foots Disease? Back to Power? Just for the fun of it?
I'm down to 4 boats right now. Two work. I'm supposto be lookin for a 16 ft aluminum runabout but I havn't started the looking yet. It is just to much fun to work on the ones I have.
But it is fun to look!
Whatcha thinkin?
Ray in Atlanta, Ga. "Lee Key" '84 Catalina 25 Standard Rig / Fin Keel
I've got a 21' SeaRay with a blown motor and a 25' sailboat that I can't ever find time to sail. Seems like every weekend it's something else.
My problem is I hate working on boats, cars, etc... I just like to use them up and then sit on them forever.
I've been thinking about selling the 25 and getting an 18 or 21' daysailer that I can pull behind my 1/2 ton truck and take to different lakes. Problem with that is I would also like to get another Hobie Cat because I like the speed.
If I was rich I'd like to have a 20'+ powerboat, a 50' houseboat, a Hobie Cat, a C320, and a Gulfstream IV!
A sailing friend's 21 year old son has sailing in his blood now. He answered an ad in New Haven, CT for a person to tend to the family's wide assortment of sailboats and teach the kids the finer points of sailing.
The family now jokes that they'll have two nannies this summer . . . one for the children and one for the boats!

I'm with you on the Hobie Cat (or better, a Sol Cat 20'), I've often thought if we lived on a lake I'd spend more time sailing a cat than I would our C-250 simply because they're easy to single hand, and there's nothing like flying a rail. I think my other choice would be an entirely different cat, a Gemini 105-MC. Rita & I contemplated one about a year ago as a retirement boat, but realized we'd have to sell the house to buy it. It's still on my short list though. Small enough to handle easily by a couple, and big enough to live on, and capable of crossing oceans. If you have a bunch of time, read this blog about a Canadian couple who had no idea how to sail, buying a Gemini and heading off around the world in it. One of these Geminis (a 34 footer) just moved into my canal - I sail past it on my way in & out every time now. I spotted the gentleman who owned it one day and started a conversation. Apparently, he's one of the owners of the company. He sailed one down the East Coast of the US toward Cayman only to wreck it on a submerged obstruction. Two months later, he had a brand new one, and this time hired a captain to bring it down here for him. Oh to have that kind of money!
We now have four good-sized cats on our canal - I have to say though - the Gemini is my least favorite. It just looks so... narrow for a cat. lol - personal preference I suppose!
