ideas for organizing the dumpster and making it more useful storage?

Welcome I hang my fenders in the dumpster on what I call a Brooklyn cloths line. This is a continuous line passed between two blocks. The blocks are secured inside along the port hull, and are attached for and aft. On the lower length of line I have 4 clips that I use to secure the fenders to. One of the clips (the one that will be the furthest away from the opening) will be tied and move with the line. The others are placed to the aft of this one and are free to slid. With this I can retrieve the closest fender to the open hatch, then pull the line to bring the rest back toward me.

That's what I'm talkin bout. Anything that brings stuff up from the pits of the dumpster so that whatever gets thrown in there can come back out without dangling your 4yr old in there by his ankles. I think I might get a couple of canvas duffles and have a 4ft lenth of line attaching to a cleat near the top of the dumpster for snorkles and whatnot.

Several years ago I posted pix of a lazarette shelf - which have since been removed from my shutterfly account.

Briefly, if you examine the walls of the lazarette you'll see a continuous fiberglass edge that is level (and even runs parallel with the waterline.) I attached a 1x2 to this edge and then laid 2 pieces of 1/2" plywood (with a series of 2" holes drilled through them) on the 1x2.

Thanks to all for posting an image, as I was able to figure out that my manual bilge pump was installed at the dumpster opening, instead of forward of that, so I have a hard time getting in and out of my dumpster.

Go figure... ( and yes I could drop some weight )

Better figure..
