Practical Sailor did a nice evaluation a year or so ago. I have a Harken, and it works well, but I suspect that you will find satisfied customers with all of the big players. Some come in with a lower price by using bushing instead of bearings, but they offer upgrades to bearings that you should get. You'll get a lot of responses here, but you should also walk the docks to see how different brands and models are rigged
Sam, I think you'll find many C25 sailors have the CDI FF4. It's less expensive than some of the others because it's not built for bluewater cruising. One advantage of the CDI is that it has its own halyard, which frees up your jib halyard for other uses, like a spinnaker. If you're not planning to circumnavigate (as if!) or don't need to change foresails quickly (i.e., racing), the CDI works great. I've had mine for years and it's been flawless.
We finally decided on a Furler, and our Choice was Harken. We have had it for three years and have trailered with it. We are pleased with it-Harken 00. The CDI is also a good choice, If You Trailer ALOT they say the CDI is a better choice but we have not had any issues with the Harken. We bought it from Catalina Direct with the forestay included. Price at that time was VERY comparable. The Admiral Loves it ,and if it makes the admiral Happy...
I have a CDI as well and it's nice. Simple and uncomplicated. One thing though, I don't know if the new ones have the partially de-cored halyard but if they do, pay attention! I wasn't paying attention and I tied the wrong end to the jib peak after I had removed it in September to reduce windage for a forecast storm. As I hoisted the jib, the de-cored (wrong end of the halyard) came off the sheave and jammed about 2 ft from the top. No amount of persuasion or colorful language was able to free it. I sailed without a jib for the rest of the season.
I have a CDI as well, not sure what model but it really makes going out and coming in soooo much easier. A worthy upgrade, no more flaking sails, sail bags all over the forward V berth etc. The wife is very happy about it, we're able to button everything up before we even hit the dock now.
