Which means it also doesn't fit the 9.8 Nissan, and probably not the Mercury that's made by Tohatsu. I almost bought this lock before I found the page listing what it didn't fit. I'm using a stout cable with a good combo lock. I'm sure if someone were interested in my engine they could get it, but hopefully they steal my neighbors Honda a few slips down that's not locked. Well, hopefully our night security guy catches them again. A while back he spotted a guy in a dinghy paddling through the marina with "spare" outboards. Chased him right into the water while trying to liberate another one, he swam across the narrow channel to the bank, scrambled up and disappeared. Unfortunately, the cops never found much other than wet muddy tracks for the first hundred yards or so. I think everything that was recovered was stolen, including the dinghy.
The powerhead and drivetrains are the same (except for the Bigfoot's lower unit, but the externals and cosmetics may not be. Only the Mercury is built with throttle shift. But I guess I better verify before spending bucks. Glad you brought the point up before I ordered one with no research. By 65 you'd think I would know better.
My Yamaha has holes in the mounting bracket so you can fasten it to the outboard bracket. I use two tamper-proof screws - if only to frustrate the heck out of any would-be thieves
