the tang at the end of my boom snapped in half; ordered replacement from catalina direct. problem is the fitting on the mainsheet block is too big to fit through the hole of the new tang. do i have to have the tang drilled with a larger hole or is there another tang to buy?
If you have a spare shackle, attach it to the new tang, pin through the tang and shackle hanging down, and attach your block to the shackle. Or do what I did and attach a line 1/4" to <font color="red">5/15"</font id="red"> about 3 ft long to the shackle on your upper main sheet block and tie the other end to the tang, adjusting the length so the block it is just above the fiddle block on the traveler when you are fully sheeted in. You have just eliminated having to sheet in 2x the length of that line when your boom is out.
