I have two hank on headsails for sale. Both are in very good shape, with no tears or patches. They are all white. One is a 170, with the following dimensions: foot - 174", luff & leach both 23'10". The other is a 150, with the following dimensions: foot - 15', luff - 23'10", leach - 25'7". Shipping cost for each sail is $30, in U.S. I will take $450 for both sails. Roger
John, Yes, it was an error on my part. The foot of the 150 is 154", which is 20" shorter than the 170. Yes, the sails are a lightweight nylon. And for anybody's information, I will sell either sail separately. Roger
Take a look at the sailplan data in the owner's manual on this site. Just click on the small image and it will enlarge to readable size. I don't think this is a "170" for a Catalina 25. It's not as large as the 150 described on the sailplan in the owner's manual.
Okay, I don't understand how to measure for a 170. The I is 29'-0", and the J is 10.5" and the P is 24.66' according to the link John Russell provided. I've read through some directions online about how to measure a headsail, but I feel like I'd need to have an degree in engineering to make sense of it.
Interesting, those seem to be short hoist sails, even for a C-22. A 150 for the C-22 generally would have a luff of 26 to 26.25 ft. The leech and foot numbers are also a bit short but look okay given the luff length. A drifter's (the 170) leech would be 25 ft. and foot 14.6 ft. Since they are nylon, I would assume that both are for very light air. do you have pics?
David, Yes I have pictures of the sails entered on my computer, but I have never transfered pictures to this forum, so I don't know if I can figure it out. I'll give it a try. If anybody wants to give me some help on posting pictures, I would appreciate it. Roger
Here's how to easily post pictures in the forum: Change your Format Mode from Basic to Prompt (upper left of the editing window underneath screensize). Go to the page where the photo you want is shown (in your case Shutterfly, which is the same place I use), and right click on the photo. Select "Copy image location". Come back to your forum post, and click on the "Insert Image" icon (4th from the right, sort of looks like a black arrow pointing at an upsidedown envelope), right click on the blue "http://" and paste your image URL into the line. Click OK. You'll see a line similar to this: (img)http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b8df39b3127cceb45713f03cd800000026102AcsmzVy5Ysi([/img) except the parenthesis will be square brackets.
