We recently put down new laminate flooring in our house & while walking through the "maze" at Ikea I saw packages of 2-3 cutting boards for $3 each. This is dirt cheap for HPDE boards for use on the boat. I bought three packs of them, one of which Rita immediately confiscated for use in the kitchen.

If they are thick enough they are also a much less expensive alternative to StarBoard and similar products. I have used HPDE cutting boards for several projects.

I got my HDPE cutting board (1/4" thick like at Ikea) at a "dollar store". Cost a buck.

I am still hoping to use it for rockfish, but slowing down or stopping to fish doesn't seem like more fun than sailing.

I think I'll pick up a few more to use on projects around the boat.

I used them to replace the 2 wooden acess panel covers in the cabin sole. They're strong enough, the right thickness and will never rot due to moisture as did the original covers.

Can they be laminated to different thicknesses, and if so how? Also is the stuff "machinable" with a router? Other tools?

Laminated, no, at least not with any adhesive I know of. Epoxy pops right off of it. Machinable? Definitely, it takes a nice finish, make sure your blades are sharp, take small cuts or you'll simply melt it.

Morning coffee.

Burton "Mr. Max" butane burner.
I tossed the "curtain burner" years ago.
Get the stainless steel coffee pot NOT the "Moka".

Bialetti ain't no walmart (i.e. asian) ripoff.

http://www.bialetti.com/BialettiUSA.htm

Most of Italy wakes up to a pot made in them.

I will say the Mr. Max is MUCH hotter than any residential gas stove.
Don't walk away, when you hear the bubbling turn the stove down or off.
