Whether you're swayed by the anecdotal evidence or not, the information about the manufacture date is useful. (You guys in the office will have to wait till tonight. )

When we got back from the San Juans last September we found that one of the trailer tires had a softball size bulge. Must have happened since the last rest area because we stop and check the tires often.
This tire looked great with lots of tread. I called the manufacturer and they basically said that is was eight years old, off warranty and should be replaced. Duh. We have all new tires now. This taught me that you cannot judge the tire by how it looks or the amount of tread left.
I've been buying tires from the same guy for about 20 years. He tells me that for trailer tires, the sidewalls are the most important factor to consider in both buying and wear analysis.
Wow...taking my son to college in Ohio in three weeks in an '07 car with 15000 miles on it. Was going to have them check the tires...now I'll have them give me a report on the age of the tires...
Val... The car companies get them fresh daily from the tire factories and keep no inventories--I think you're fine. It's dealers and gas stations that are problematic.
Purchased a new tyre from Tire Kingdom last Saturday (7/19/2008) checked the date today - 4407 phew!
I'll check the mounted tyres on Thursday when I do the pre-trip trailer check.
Our last tyre had a blimp similar to the one shown above. I changed the wheel out with the spare and the spare tyre blew out while strapped down to the trailer toungue. Change out was just in time!
Oh--BI! Sarge was on the hook in Great Salt Pond at Block last Wed-Thurs (7/16-17)... and I was on the "party deck" of a Grand Banks trawler, and then in the cockpit of a Mystic 30 cutter anchored nearby... Did the guy look sorta like this?
Yeah sort of, the family and I were leaving on the Viking Superstar back to Montauk. It was at this time that I saw several other people that I knew...thinking that you might have been one of the several.
