I was in Boater's World yesterday picking up some electrical stuff, and they had these Lil Suckers drink holders on display at the counter (they're not called impulse buys for nothing). I was impressed at how well they stuck a drink glass to whatever surface you attached it to. I tried them out on some cushions similar ours to see how the worked, and they held surprisingly well. Certainly enough to keep them in place in a light chop. Anyway, I bought two of them. If the surface is slick enough (like the top of a table) they're like little limpets and you have to know the trick to get them off.

I like Stampeder's approach, but I bought two of them for a power boating friend last year. They work so well that I still have them - he will never know.
I found what I think are the best drink holders at Boaters World. They are also sold at Cabella's, Amazon.com, and other outdoor stores. I used the rail mount and unscrew the main holder to store in the cabin when not on board. I put one at each corner of the cockpit. They hold cans AND bottles... AND they float according to my wife. I wonder how she knows that? Check 'em out! http://www.boatersworld.com/product/337010367msk.htm
