Anybody need a new lunch hook?
Of course it's probably too heavy to ship.

Take it to work next year and leave it out. It will be gone in a jiffy. That's what I did with mine once.

The best fruitcake is made by the average English housewife - much lighter than those here. Traditionally they are made in December, (with lots of rum or sometimes brandy) covered with moist cheesecloth, sealed in aluminum foil and stored for a year. You eat them the FOLLOWING Xmas.

Reminds me of a story from when I was in the USN. My brother was married to a fruitcake who liked to bake (or was it her sister?). Anyway, I went home to San Diego for xmas and received a loaf of some sort of fruit & nut bread she'd baked for me. It looked & smelled like fruit cake, so I knew I'd never eat it. I tried to give it to others in my family, but they'd all received something similar, so I dutifully took it back to the ship with me, tossed it in my coffin locker & forgot about it. A year+ later I was getting out of the USN & packing up my stuff & found the bread, still wrapped in foil, wrapped in cling wrap. It was hard as a rock, but otherwise not particularly worse for the wear. As a joke, I put it on the table in our berthing compartment just to see what would happen. I figured the first guy to open it would figure out it was basically an organic rock and it wouldn't ever be eaten. I was wrong. I was gone maybe 15 minutes before I walked back through that area again, and there were only crumbs left.

They have probably matured enough by now - time to whip up the brandy sauce and indulge!
