Defender's web site says "Not reccommeded for interior mattresses. " in their description of closed cell foam. When they say mattresses, do they mean interior cushions as well?

I'm trying to price replacing interior cushions.

Their point is that it feels sorta hard. It doesn't let your tuckus sink in the way open-cell does. Take your pick. We had new interior cushions made of medium-density foam, 1" thicker than the originals (except for the seat backs), and with a 1" fiber pad on top of the foam, as in most upholstered furniture. We chose a Sunbrella linen-finish upholstery material (not their canvas). The end result was worth the 20 boat units (12 pieces)--especially to the admiral.

I too am in need of replacing my interior cushions. Part of me wants to go to CD and get original issue while part of me thinks that custom may be more comfortable/livable over the long run. Dave, when you had yours made how did they compare in cost to the CD originals? Also, who did you go to -- Defender or a custom shop?

Catalina Yachts, (which is not Catalina Direct), is the best and cheapest place I know of. You will be truly impressed with what you get back.

We took our old cushions to them, and they reproduced them (upgraded). CD would have been around $1500 + shipping (I think) and I never talked to Catalina. CD offered about two fabrics--maybe Catalina offers more. The custom shop had hundreds.
