Why, do you suppose, there have been no responses to Simon and my posts about our self-tacking jib sheet mod? What is your assessment of the adjustment? Thanks.

Hi Frank,

As to my failure to respond to the self tacking thread... see the thread I recently posted about my current non sailing status and request that someone active consider taking the tech editor position.

I'll further elaborate that a few weeks ago I suffered a health event yet unconfirmed. Five days of low grade fever, three days after fever started a 24/7 headache set on lasting ten days. During the fever phase, (again-not a high fever) there was quite a bit of confusion (remember my keboard got fried by a glass of water-my wife had brought a very full glass of water for me to take aspirin and in my confusion it got knocked into the keyboard and I was too unthinking to drain it and dry it out). The fever set in three days after I'd gone into the woods to fetch a downed RC airplane (not mine) and got bit up pretty well by mosquitoes.

After two weeks I started feeling better and went back to work and four and half hours later hit a wall of exhaustion that took two full days to recover from. Now, a full three weeks later, I feel pretty well but remain lethargic, have a poor appetite and wonder when I will get back to work... fortunately the employees have carried on with only short visits to the job site needed but work is backing up.

I hope you can realize by the above narrative that I've simply not been into much the last few weeks. I do visit the job site daily and have gone to the RC flying field but haven't flown because I've just not felt alert enough. In hopes of being back up to speed soon.

A self tacking system is a very worthy discussion topic that I'm sure I'd find interesting if not for current condition, which might possibly be West Nile Fever.

Hope it's not that, Arlyn, and that you can get some of the thinking stuff done during your down time.

GWS!

Oh, my gawd! Forget my query, just GET WELL!! Keep us posted, my friend.
And BTW: re the self-tacking mod, we have to keep the conventional sheets attached if we plan on hoving to; can't do it with just the self-tacking sheets. Lots o' lines on the foredeck, but what the hay, it's a good mod.

Arlyn, wishing you a speedy recovery. Did they test for Lyme disease? Best wishes.

Me too. Hope not. Symptoms vary, but certainly include those. A guy at my office got so confused he couldn't remember where he was... then somehow drove himself home. (Scary.) Sounded like a stroke, but turned out to be Lyme. Hang in there, Arlyn.

Arlyn, I'm new to this site but have already gained insight from your speedy and informed replies to my "newbie" questions. I wish you well.
Thanks,
