Schumacher model SE-1-12S

* 1.5-amp charger
* Has reverse polarity protection
* Molded with plastic weather proof case
* Plugs into an electrical wall outlet
* Can install next to the battery on automobiles, boats, tractors, golf carts, and other equipment

This fully automatic onboard battery charger is a 1.5-amp charger which plugs onto an electrical wall outlet. It charges 12-volt batteries, and keeps larger batteries warm even under cold temperatures. This plug-in trickle charger has reverse polarity protection and can install next to the battery on automobiles, boats, tractors, golf carts, and other equipment. 1.5 amp trickle charge rate-charges in 2 to 12 hours LED lights-Indicated Power On and Charged.

I used this to keep my battery charged during winter storage, but it was never mounted in the boat. Looks like new.

Sells for $28 plus shipping new, I'm selling for $15 plus shipping. It weighs about 3 lbs.

1. How old is the unit and how often used, and
2. Would this battery charger mount inside my Cat 25 (for use while I am away - tied up at the slip), or is it better used when the cabin and battery locker are open? I have shore power and AC outlets in the cabin.
Thanks,

I bought the unit last year and used it this winter to keep my new battery "topped off".
Yes, it will mount in your C25, that was what I was planning to do with it as part of a complete rewiring that is not going to happen now. I can't answer your question as to when it is better to use it as I have no knowledge of your set up.

Rick, we are interested ... and would like to buy it. Two more quick questions:
1. What additional wiring were you planning that would relate to this charger?
2. Will it charge more than one battery, or does one switch it back and forth as necessary?
Thanks ...

It connect directly to the battery and that was all I planned to do with it, other than connecting it to the 120v. It's only designed to do one battery at a time so you would have to come up with a way to switch it if you intend to use it on more than one battery. If that's the case, I'm not sure this is the charger you want as there are others designed for that purpose or I'd be inclined to install 2 of them, otherwise the automatic feature would be useless. The 12 foot cord in my original description was in error, if that makes a difference to you. It's actually 12 INCHES.

Hmmmm, I could deal with one at a time, let me think about the length and the connections. Be back tonight.

My boat partner is out of town. Don't wait for us to decide, but I will get back to you. We may still find a way to make it work.

Rick, what is the length of each of the cables? I may have assumed the wrong thing?

from unit to battery

from AC plug to unit

Thanks very much
