We take possesion of a 2001 250 WK #516 with a 2000 9.9 hp Honda on this coming Wednesday (9th). I'll be trailering from Racine, WI to south of Kansas City, to Raymore, Mo. I've been reading posts and browsing the archives here for a number of weeks so I think I'm about as prepared for the trip as I can be.
It looks like she'll call Stockton Lake in Missouri her home port. We will trailer from time to time but spend most of our time at Stockton.
Looking forward to being a part of this site in the future. There is already a lot of good, useful information here. No doubt I'll have lots of questions to come. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute before long.
I can't wait to get out on this boat and see what she's got. I'm anxious to compare to the Mac 26X we trailered and sailed for four years too.

I think you will really enjoy this boat. I know I do. After my experiences with the Mac I was ready to get out of sailing and go to the dark side. Have fun with the new boat!
Hi John, As a "Former" 26X owner, I can tell you that you will LOVE the 250! I have no regrets what so ever. I "thought" I really liked my 26x, but I also like to race and we were always at the end of the pack and my wife was getting very frustrated with our performance. (So was I!!!)She said either we stop racing or look for another boat!! So that Spring (2001) we went to the boat show and we fell in love with the 250. Best thing we ever did! We are now VERY competitive in our races and just really enjoy the boat. This boat feels (No, IS) like a real sailboat!!
Well no doubt I was blissfully ignorant with our Mac. We had a blast with it. We didn't race it but in the few times we met other "sailboat" traffic we usually got passed. If Roger hadn't so drastically changed the X's design, it's possible we would have ended up with another. There isn't much I like in the new design.
I wasn't ignorant of the chiding between X owners and "real" sailboat owners. I always got a kick out of it, but it also tweaked my curiosity. There never is denial of a difference in the boats, really it is a difference in taste. I'm look forward to a different taste. The wife is too.
I leave tomorrow morning and pick it up on Wednesday. I hope to have it in the water within a week or two afterward.
Welcome aboard John! To each his own said the old lady as she kissed the cow! When I went to the Bimini Is. we had four 26Xs with our flotilla and the only thing they can boast is to go 14kts under power. So why not just be a stink-pot? You'll gonna love your C-250.
I too was looking at the 26x but for one reason only, get to catalina fast. but my instincts took over and I got a 250 instead. I will never look back. I love my 250. And a sailing buddy of mine has a Mcgregor 26-non X, and he is jealous!
