Any advice on how to run new jib halyards?
Both are missing so I cannot use the old ones a messengers.
How do I run the new halyards and ensure they do not wrap around the spin or main halyard, the VHF coax, and or the wiring?
The mast is currently stepped and the boat is in a slip.
I could un-step the mast if needed but I have never done it on a boat this large.

I use a fish tape for pulling electrical wire through conduit. Works well when the mast is ustepped. Otherwise You will have to go to the top, feed the tape to the bottom and pull it up and through the sheeve. If you are going to unstep the mast use 2 people. I can do it by myself by backing into the slip, use the spin halyard to control it going down, and then walk it down then resting the top end on a step ladder. Do the reverse to raise it. Three strong people or a frame/pole system is always recommended. It is always best to run rigging with the mast unstepped.

whatever you do, make sure all other lines are really tight before running the new lines, less likely to allow snags.

With the mast down you can use a stay as a fish tape. Taking a mast down provides an opportunity to inspect a lot of important things that age over time. Where are you getting your new halyards? I really like layline.com they are able to provide anything you want including splices, eyes, whips and such.

You can do it with the mast up, it just takes allot of time. I would use any halyard that is going thru the mast, Tie a messenger line to the shackle, then pull the halyard thru the mast so the messenger line is at the top of the mast head. Then at the base of the mast remove the key that holds the sheaves, be careful not to loose any of the washers or the sheaves. I would go ahead and replace any sheaves that are old or cracked. I would also do both sides so you have access to both sides of the mast. Now attach 2 messenger lines to the base of the halyard that is ready to be pulled back thru the mast, you will need to tie another messenger line to the end of this halyard, because the length of the halyard is not long enough.

Pull the forward messenger line so that the halyard and the (2) messenger lines run thru the mast. Once the lines reach the top of the mast tie off the forward messenger line, and grab a friend to help you up the mast in a bunsen chair. At the top, you will need to take the (2) messenger lines off of the halyard, and run them thru the correct sheaves. Inspect the sheaves up top, and tape anything loose. attach the (2) messenger lines to the bunsen chair, and lower yourself down. At mid point check your spreaders, and tape anything loose.

Once you are down pull the main halyard back down the mast and remove the messenger extension line, then remove the forward extension, replace any sheaves at the base, and run the base of the (2) messenger lines thru the correct sheaves.

Now you have your messenger lines as needed to replace your halyards. It sounds time consuming, but it's a lot faster than removing the mast. there is just the right amount of space at the base of the mast with the sheaves removed to get the lines in different spots. I love the mast base for the Capri 25
