For those of you in the cold, I thought I would post some pics of "Winter" in Florida. Truly a great weekend with some friends and great weather to boot! Here's to sailing more than working in '07!
This was at our anchorage
Cooking, Drinking (Sodas ) and hanging out...Powerboaters don't get it!
It was so warm in northern michigan during December that a few of us debated putting our boats back into the water. Mid-forties and no ice. Definately not shorts and t-shirt weather but a warmer December hasn't been seen around here in over 70 years. Our winter tourist season is in jeapardy. The university hosted the NCAA Xcountry Ski nationals the first week in Jaunuary. Snow had to be trucked and spread on the trails so there would be enough to ski on. it's colder this week with only bout and 1-3" of accumulation.
Everyone please pray to Heiki Lunta, the Finnish snow god, for an abundance of snow in the coming few weeks. Thanks.
OK, I hate you, it is snowing here. Looks you were motoring while cooking the hot dogs. What's with that?? Also, what is the black strap in that photo?
It is all awesome except the little rat dog, what is a manly guy like you doing with an ankle biter like that? There has to be a story there! You need a real sea dog.
Great pics. Thanks for sharing. Great dog too! I don't think the size of a man's dog reflects his manliness. I knew very effeminate man of a different sexual orientation that had a huge Rottweiler.

Motoring was necessary. The winds had pretty much died and we had an hour or so of light left with a nasty inlet to go through. The GPS is useless because being a natural inlet the sandbars shift every month and you rely on sight navigation. Once in the channel, you are OK. As for the strap, it is for my bimini.

Actually you are right, there is a story! That is actually my sister-in-law's dog. After that trip, I realized I do have the best sea dog, period!
Looks like you guys had a great day of sailing! My friend Dave (Bubba on the forum) joined me the weekend before last (1/6) and we had an excellent sail out on the Chesapeake. We had a near record breaking temperature in the low 70s, partly cloudy, and 10-15 knots of wind. Here is a photo while sailing on a beam reach: It was also a great one year anniversary sail for my boat since I bought her on 1/7/06! Hard to believe that was already over a year ago. This winter has been somewhat mild, although it was in the 20s last night and only in the 40s today.
