I am horribly delinquent in getting these out. This is for the officers teleconference nearly a month ago. I will do better at getting this done in the future. -Kevin
All officers except Ben were in attendence. Ben indicated he could not attend due to a conflict, there was confusion about the date of the meeting.
Duane discussed the Google advertising program that he has added to the site. It has been generating more revenue for us that any other partner program, $101 in the last 45 days. Amazon by comparision generates considerably less.
We discussed upgrading the web site message board to a more recent version. Advice from both Duane and Kevin was to go slow, that without certain justification for the upgrade, often you just trade old problems for new ones. Next month Duane and Kevin will look into various improvements in the web site, including a possible upgrade.
Duane's boat is for sale, he got a really great opportunity to buy an O'Day 30. Duane indicates that he will serve out his term in office as vice-commodore if and when his boat sells, unless the commodore objects (which he does not), as provided in the by-laws of the association.
We will open bidding for the 2008 Nationals earlier this year. Conversations with a couple of possible venues are already beginning.
Kevin made a motion to change our web site billing from annual to monthly to make it possible for us to change vendors soon, should we decide to do that. The motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
Proposed minutes of officers meetings will now be posted in the officers/staff area of the web site for 3 days. If no corrections are received for three days, they will be considered approved, and Kevin will publish the minutes to the membership via TellTales.
Bill reported on and we discussed steps being taken to contact members (via email) and non-members (via PR and advertising) to publicize the upcoming Nationals. Bill will investigate the cost of advertising in Sailing World.
We discussed the possible recent use of old membership lists by a former officer to market cruises for his business. Frank declared and the other officers agreed that it is the policy of this organization that personal information about members shall not be used by officers and staff for any other purpose other than association business. Bill agreed to contact the former officer about this.
Rick proposed that the association might own trailers that could be used to assist members in traveling to the Nationals, in order to get more boats there. The other officers were not enthusiastic about this idea due to cost, licensing, liability, storage, etc.
Triad Trailers is offering a discount of 5% for two trailers, 8% for 3 trailers, or 10% for more than three trailers ordered at the same time. Rick will work to see if there is interest in ordering trailers as a group.
Bill is organizing a member rendezvous at Strictly Sail in Chicago on the first weekend in February. If 5 or more members attend this event, the association will support it at $30 per person to a maximum of $350. The money will be used to buy food and drink for the group. Members interested in attending should contact Bill.
Bill is also organizing a mid-winter cruise "somewhere in Georgia" (we suspect he will be more specific later ;-) the 16th - 19th of February next year. If five or more boats owned by association members attend this cruise, the association will support the event by reimbursing dock fees, food, drink, and similar expenses to a maximum of $350. Member interested in joining this cruise should contact Bill.
Bill (busy guy) is further planning a summer cruise in Traver City, Michigan July 27th - August 3rd (Friday to Friday). If five or more boats owned by association members attend this cruise, the association will support the event by reimbursing dock fees, food, drink, and similar expenses to a maximum of $350. Member interested in joining this cruise should contact Bill.
The meeting was adjourned. Next meeting is Tuesday, January 9th, and will include staff as well as officers.

It has now been two years since I requested the upgrade. I don't know what the upgrade will offer to the user of IE browser, the current program has non compliant code that does not render properly with the FireFox browser that is becoming so popular.
When editing, all edits go to the tail of a post and then need cut and pasted to the point at which the curser was and where the edit was desired... this is a real real real pain.... hear....real pain.
I've tested the new version on the Snitz site and editing goes to the curser location as it should.
Because the majority may use IE and not suffer the problem, please don't leave the minority who prefer another browser to suffer the agravation.
