Hey gang. I am in the process of going over our new C250 from stem to stern to familiarize myself with the craft and to make certain all systems are operational. Well, today I was working on the rudder and made a discovery. The hole for the emergency tiller to connect to the rudder was plugged by an insect's mud nest - hard as a rock. It took some "persuading" to get it out of there. If I had discovered this in an emergency situation it would not have been pretty. So, my advice for the day to you wheel steerers is to know where your emergency tiller is and make sure that hole on the rudder is not plugged up. Randy

We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.

Randy,
I had a similar situation.
My rudder had some extra gelcoat in the hole and it was just enough to stop the bolt from passing through.

Since you're checking your wheel steering, do you have the push/pull (single cable) or pull/pull (double cable) design?
Here's a related post about checking the cable adjustment.
