We went on a 3 day mini cruise on Swimmer this past week and after a number of trial and errors over prior weekends, we determined this was the way to tow Kayaks and it worked very well in a variety of situations but none of them difficult.

What we did was strap the kayaks to our inflatable with the bows of the kayaks slightly raised. We both sailed and motored this way and when we weren't going against the tide, we only saw about a 1 kt loss in speed.
We actually saw less loss under sail than under power. That surprised me.

Rick

'Glad it worked Rick ... but I have to say, that is an ominous looking rig ... Homeland Security & the Coasties would probably give you a second look!

Coming along that thing in my powerboat was one of the more nerve wracking experiences of my life. You should tow the raft racing - you'll get plenty of space...
