During my club's weekend Wednesday night races, we have a small C22 fleet. The phrf on the C22s is so much higher than on the C25, but they consistantly finish among the top boats. Is there something about the C22 that is just plain fast? That doesn't make sense to me because then their phrfs wouldn't be so high. Seems to me that we should be walking away from the C22s, but instead, they often go by me. Has anyone else experienced this in their own clubs?
Check the interior of the C22's. There is probably nothing down below that isn't required by PHRF - no cushions, no porta-potti, no carpet - just a bare interior. The C22 Class Rules are so wide open you can drive a Mack Truck through them! I raced in the C22 Nationals (as crew for a former National Champion) and was amazed at the tricked out boats. Derek

Cushions generally are required by PHRF...
and as for wide open class rules - if they can fit a Mack Truck through theirs...then ours (with the exception of the traveler) could fit one of these....
