I used the SEARCH option and found valuable discussion that involved Motor Tiller Extensions.
My 9.9 mercury outboard has the motor tiller handle with speed, shift, and tilt features. I prefer to stand when departing and returning to the dock. I do not like to bend sideways or backwards to control the motor.
Seems like the extension is the way to go.
So.......

What length extension works for you? 18", 30", ??
What Make or Brand do you recommend?
Where to buy this motor extension tiller?

I know I'll get info I didn't think to ask.
Thanks.

Tom,

I, too, have a Mercury with the integrated throttle/shifter tiller control (the best feature any outboard can have, period!).

As for tiller extension, I looked into getting one a while back and was steering towards a telescoping model (no pun intended ). West Marine sells one that telescopes between 23" and 32".

Don:
Thanks for the link and help. I'll check out my Mercury again this weekend for ease of operation as I sit and stand...and how much I have to bend sideways/ backward et al.
I agree with you that the integrated throttle/shifter/tilt tiller controls are the best feature any outboard can have.

I noticed a boat on my dock that the owner just slipped a piece of PVC pipe over his motor tiller to increase the length. Its a snug fit at the throttle so he can steer and control the speed.
