Sorry, but I want to be sure I have my information correct. I am looking to NOT CUT in the hull and mount a transducer in the Vberth square space in the storage area. Will it work? OR should I NOT do it that way?
Looks like you hit the new topic icon as opposed to the reply. Just wondering where the rest of the topic is since I am also looking at puting a depth gauge on my 250.
That is correct, no hole cutting, several of us have STUCK the transducer in the square space below the "V" berth. How the transducer's were mounted is each sailors choice. I chose the toilet bowl goup only because if I want to remove the transducer I can get it out.
I also went the toilet bowl wax ring method. Took a glob of it and smacked it down in the VBerth area and then pushed the transducer into it and over the sides. Works great !
benefit - if not a good signal, then just take the transducer out and try again - easy. If it does work - then you are done.
I had one on my Cal 36 that was in a water filled tube inside the hull as in the pic in the link posted by Al, worked great for 26 years. I plan to try the toilet bowl wax ring method in my 250
